EXCLUSIVE BDA FOLLOW-ON INSURANCE

Description

The exclusive BDA follow-on insurance to supplement professional indemnity for members of Bund Deutscher Architektinnen und Architekten BDA e. V.

The exclusive BDA follow-on insurance (BDAtopsave©) purposefully extends an existing professional indemnity policy with an additional layer of security and is continuously adapted to the needs of BDA members. Since 2007, BDAtopsave© BDA follow-on insurance has stood for an established and proven insurance concept that is particularly convincing when liability risks rise and project requirements grow.

The entire office of the BDA member and, where applicable, co-insured firms (e.g. additional GmbHs or PartG mbB) including all employed and freelance staff are covered. Coverage extends to the same extent to all domestic branches and offices included in the base policy. For office partnerships or corporations, it is sufficient if at least one partner/shareholder is a member of the BDA.

BDA follow-on insurance is aimed in particular at:

  • architecture firms with high sum insured requirements or international projects
  • general planners and corporate structures with multiple entities (e.g. several GmbHs, PartG mbB)

Strategic advantages

  • Existence-protecting sums insured
  • Clear positioning on demanding projects
  • Competitive advantages in national and international markets

Operational advantages

  • Improved chances in public procurement procedures and tenders
  • Meeting increased coverage requirements from clients
  • Support with regulatory requirements (e.g. PartG mbB)

Economic advantages

  • Attractive price-performance ratio and simple premium calculation based on total annual fee turnover (excluding VAT)
  • Efficient premium structure (the higher the turnover, the lower the premium rate)
  • No premium downgrade in the event of a claim

Following-form mechanism: Improvements to the terms of the base policy automatically also apply to BDA follow-on insurance. Your insurance cover therefore always remains at the current benefit level.

Step-down cover, where professional indemnity is managed via AIC:

  • If base cover is reduced or exhausted, follow-on insurance applies immediately
  • Cover attaches exactly at the reduced coverage level
  • Continuity of insurance protection is guaranteed at all times

Why follow-on insurance is indispensable today

Liability in the planning and construction process has no fixed upper limit – even if modern corporate forms can limit personal exposure. At the same time, project volumes, liability risks and requirements from public and private clients are rising. Classic professional indemnity is often no longer sufficient to address these developments in an economically sensible way. BDA follow-on insurance offers a cost-efficient solution for increasing coverage requirements – without unnecessary complexity.

Proven in practice and established in the market

The AIC coverage system has proven itself in the market over many years and is continuously developed further. The growing spread of comparable models underlines the relevance of this approach for insuring modern planning and construction supervision services. For BDA members, this means: a tried-and-tested structure, high market acceptance and sustainable future viability.
